Farmer services.

Seed, fertiliser and services on credit through cooperatives, recovered when the farmer delivers.

What we do

Certified seed, fertiliser and crop protection on credit through cooperatives, with tractor hire, soil testing, training and links to insurance.

The credit is recovered when the farmer delivers the harvest, so the farmer does not need collateral and AVERON knows the crop is coming.

The input credit cycle
Inputs advanced through the cooperative, recovered at harvest, and re-lent the next season.

Why it matters

Ugandan farmers apply 2.4 kg of fertiliser per hectare, against 60 in Kenya and 104 in South Africa. Maize yields rarely exceed 2.5 tonnes a hectare, a yield gap of about 71%. There is about one extension worker for every 1,800 farmers. About 1 million farmers have crop insurance, against a target of 3 million by 2027.
